A technology coordinator performs a variety of functions. However, the work can be summarized by working with different aspects of a company's technology infrastructure. This can include supporting problematic end users, installing and configuring computer systems, working on telecommunications systems, or coordinating technology projects.

Technology coordinators typically report to a technology manager, but their duties are usually carried out with minimal supervision. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the network and computer system administrator industry is expected to grow 8 percent through 2024. This will create 30,200 jobs in this sector during this period.

Duties and responsibilities of the technology coordinator

Provide assistance to users

A technology coordinator is often needed to provide assistance to users of the computer system. This can include face-to-face, telephone, or email communication with local and remote users. This role requires troubleshooting and good computer control.

Implement technology

A technology coordinator is responsible for the use of new technologies and the revitalization of existing systems. This can include system planning, cost analysis, ordering consumables, coordinating with suppliers, editing or monitoring the component diagram, planning system tests, and training users of the new technology.

Project management

Technology coordinators are often responsible for managing various technology projects. You need to gather appropriate equipment, research technologies, schedule meetings, plan project plans, and monitor project implementation. Some technology coordinators will have large teams to work with, while others will have to do many of the tasks themselves.
