Job Duties of Network and System Administrators?



Network administrators design, manage and maintain technology networks. They work within government organizations and agencies to monitor local area networks, geographic networks, network segments and other data communication systems, if necessary.
Network administrators provide support and supervision in the same way, working closely with colleagues to explain how to use data storage and communication networks and ensure efficiency. Often part of a larger IT staff, network administrators can monitor IT support and IT systems specialists.



What are the job duties of network and system administrators?

As we said, the functions of a network administrator vary greatly depending on the organization they work for. Some work as generalists, from hardware installation to server troubleshooting, while others have a much more limited approach.
Network Administrator Duty - These are some examples of activities related to the administration of networks and systems. In environments where the tasks of network administrators and system administrators are divided and defined more clearly, tasks in italics align more closely with system administrators:
  • Network hardware configuration such as servers, routers and switches
  • Update and repair of computer networks.
  • Network Troubleshooting
  • Assistance to network architects in the design of network models.
  • Software distribution and update.
  • Management of servers and their operating systems.
  • Implementation of security measures and basic tests.
  • Storage management in the physical network and in the cloud.
